Yaayyyyyyyy...I have a comments field now on my blogs...(Thanks Kribs !!).Will get to know incase any of you do go thru my blog and dont necessarily agree with my views ;-)
Was surfing thru the endless bounds of the Internet and was struck by a site on probably the most complete Indian Indvidual I have ever met (virtually of course...)!!! Coming from me it's a huge compliment since on most occassions I 'm not easily impressed...The site in question is :
http://www.s-anand.net/
He seems to be one individual who has interests in varied subjects and has great acads to boot(IIT Madras,IIM bangalore and London Business School is impressive to say the least..)He is presently working as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group,Mumbai..Apart from dabbling in varied subjects,He's kept a few sections dealing exclusively with his experiences in each of the above Institutes....Of course,The most interesting part was one where he had maintained all his interesting chat transcripts..To say that it was hilarious would be an understatement...
Moving on to other topics...Watched a brilliant sci-fi flick yest. by the name "Gattaca" - *ing Jude Law,Uma Therman and Ethan Hawke..Very briefly,It's abt a time in the future when the concept of a genetically-engineered(GE) individuals is a reality..Gattaca (name derived from letters that make up a DNA chain, guanine, adenine, thymine and cytosine) is an important film because it tells us what might happen in the future if we are not to careful. The scary thing is that it is beginning to come through as the Human Genome Project is complete...A couple decide to have a child the natural way at a point in time when "within seconds of the baby's birth,it's life expectancy is known using it's blood sample"..They also have another kid the GE way...Ethan Hawke plays the "invalid" because he is concieved the natural way. He has a 99% chance of heart failure before the age of 35 and because of this he is discriminated. One beautiful phrase he uses here is "In this age, there's a discrimination on the basis of science". Through luck, He comes upon Jude Law who is concieved the accepted way and a perfect human if not for the fact that he is paralyzed. Hawkes assumes his identity to get into the Gattaca space facility although he previously worked as a Janitor at the place and had mused thus on seeing a spaceship taking off-"I realised how far I was from My goal, when I stood right next to it" . Unfortunately he has his younger brother, also concieved the acceptable way hot on his heels. Uma Thurman plays his love interest..Very though-provoking and fascinating movie Asking questions abt today's problems in a futuristic context....Very good plot and brilliant acting frm Jude Law and Ethan Hawke...definitely a must see for all sci-fi fans with a dash of heart in it...........

Well,It's final.....I will be quitting this month-end ....Then starts a 2-month long hiatus b4 I start to immerse myself in the daily routine of life at IIT,Madras pursuing a yem-bee-yay...Kinda feeling senti though...I will not be able to stay in touch with A lot of very good friends tht I have made at HLL,ITPL....Rasa,Dkboss,Mani,"Kakka Makka" Shankar,Venu,Karthick and Santhosh; all of whom will definitely be sorely missed...Forget the guys, the one girl in the whole bay- Muniyamma(That's what we call her !!!) will be missed eventhough she might think that I am just one of the morons on the other side of the cubicle....Hmm, so much for my stay at HLL,ITPL...
Nothing else happening on the tech scene except an article in business2.com(gr8 online business magazine BTW) which is abt the "Eight Technologies That Will Change the World"..a must read at :

Had a gr8 online debate with some fellow bloggers which was mentally invigorating....A refreshing change from my rather humdrum existence...the debate involved the "lack" of responsibility on the part of an author in the Sunday Mid-day in depicting a negative image of the Art of Living Foundation...What started as gentle small-arms fire turned into a roller-coaster ride to hell and back !!! Ppl who know me will tell you that I indulge in duels just to TP...Most times ,the opposition wuld lose interest in debating with somebody who doesnt seem to be able to understand what he is saying( Of course,.I do...but there's no harm in having some fun..Is there ?? ;-))
This time,JFK,I took the side of the unknown author while everybody seemed to take the moralistic high-ground against him and subsquently against me ;-) I stuck to my stand quite rigidly and at times veered away with sweeping generalisations...Ultimately,though, just as I told Ashok Hegde of http://fulltp.blogspot.com (where the debate took place..) that what bothered me the most was- "it made the slightest difference to the author after all our rants et al... "
Hope we have a few more debates like these and come up with solutions to problems or issues...Maybe,one day,it will actually make a difference.....

Ummm....Monday today....As usual, had to wake up real early(6:30 AM)....Got ready and just abt managed to reach the bus stop...Our "Knight in Shining Armour" -the ITPL bus turned up and I got in...Had a nice nap with nobody disturbing me for the best part of the one-hour journey to ITPL....Of course, the lack of any distraction in the form of nubile damsels in the bus, also helped...5 more days of this Early-morning torture b4 I Have the ultimate freedom-"The freedom to sleep"
Moving on to more interesting topics...India VS W Indies Matches got rained out....Good for India....Atleast it eliminated the possibility of us losing those matches !!!
Another Victory for India on the Diplomatic front today(or so we think...)...George Bush,Blair,Putin and Jaques Chirac all "urged" Pakistan to show them their commitment to the war against terror.....Was just wondering,Do we need a go-ahead from the Super-powers to do something that will let us live in peace....Granted, a nuclear conflict will affect the whole world but then isn't the response to that scenario a little muted frm the big 3 ???I go with the dictum " Eyes for an eye, teeth for a tooth"...I'm sure this shld get the message across the border..
